I never want to live in New York City. I just don’t think I could stand the local sports fans and sports media. Not only are they the most obnoxious in the country, there is no one even close. I know this is a well established fact, so I’m only bringing it up because this business over A-Rod is so ridiculous. NY fans are now booing him on a regular basis. The second best player in the major leagues….booing him. Why? Because of some scandal? Because of steroids? Because he spoke out against the team or the city or the fans? Because he’s a bad teammate? No, no, no and no. They are booing him because he’s had a bad week. He’s made a bunch of bad errors and been pretty awful at the plat for a whole week. Never mind that he was player of the month in May or that his on base percentage and OPS are first among 3rd basemen in the AL, his 21 HRs are second, his RBI are first, just like his base on balls. Nah, forget all that, forget he’s the reigning league MVP or that he’s a good guy or that he doesn’t throw his teammates under the buss. Let’s just think about his one bad week and that he’s not the overrated and beloved Jeter and bash the guy.

Now, everyone with a microphone is saying the Yankees should trade him. Good idea. Next, the Cavs should trade LeBron if he ever has two games in a row where he fails to score 20 or has more turnovers than assists. Let’s make sure the Colts ship Manning out of town if he ever has a week where he throws 3 picks. This is just brilliant thinking.

I hope they do trade him. He’s a great player that deserves to be playing in city that appreciates the game and values something other than their own ego and right to jeer. I just hope and pray that after Isaiah is finally done destroying the Knicks, he gets hired by the Yankees so the fans in NY finally get more of what they deserve.

You mean Yankee fans shouldn't be sore because A-Rod has a bad week. He is going to make more in his lifetime than some nations of the world generate yearly. He should be perfect everyday. Surely, the Yankee fans (I know, don't call you Shirley)are in their own little world of expected priviledge. Why back in my day..................

Some quick thoughts

A few quick sports thoughts for you today: I don’t understand why people don’t talk about how much Tyler Hansborough looks like a really tall Frodo Baggins. Also, why does he have such a bad haircut? I think the teams in the Western Conference should be afraid of Denver. They are playing as well as anyone outside of LA and Melo hasn’t even started playing well yet. What if this is the year that Nene and Kmart actually stay healthy and Karl becomes a big game coach? Oh yeah, forget everything I just said. Oh well, at least the trade helped Billups on my fantasy team. I can’t figure out why the Blazers don’t throw lobs to Oden. There is no play where this is even attempted. Yeah, he is still getting his legs back and doesn’t jump out of the gym, but he jumps well and is 7 freakin feat tall. Do the Blazers (other than Sergio) not know how? Does coach Nate hate lobs? It seems like Oden could get 8 points a game just by either running to the hoop on pick and rolls like Tyson Chand...
SOME PLAYOFF OBSERVATIONS I just took a welcomed brake from preparing for trial to watch the Miami v. Detroit game 3. Obviously this was a huge game for Miami and the next one is just as big, but I’m not chiming in to break down the game, but rather to offer a few observations about both the series going on right now. 1. Why do Antoine Walker’s coaches allow him to shoot so many 3s? If I were coaching him, I would tell him that if he ever shot a 3 that wasn’t wide, wide open or if his 3 to drive ratio fell below 5-1, he would sit the bench. Walker is an incredibly talented player and when he attacks the rim both he and the Heat are a much, much, much better team. When you play defense like a matador, you better do more than just miss a bunch of 3s on the other end. He was great tonight just because he took the ball in. It’s not complicated, so why is it so inconsistent? 2. What happened to Gary Payton? He was one of my favorite players for years and years after leaving OSU and playing ...
Why was Charles Barkley dressed like Tony Soprano tonight? What was with the gold medalion and the open collar? Do they not have wardrobe people at TNT? And seriously, what happened to Magic? I've put on a few extra pounds as I've aged, but he's put on a few extra people. To think that he was once an elite athelete running a fast paced team is astonishing. That he is a spokesperson for 24 hour fitness is hilarious. I know it is looking like Dallas is going to beat Phoenix, but what happens if Phoenix plays Miami? Will Shaq score 60 points or not be allowed off the bench because his man will be open for 3 all night? That is the goofiest matchup I can imagine, and I'm not even sure I want to watch it play out. It's just wrong somehow. Dallas/Miami though would be epic. Man, I hope Miami beats Detroit. 715 was hit today. I honestly believe that all Bonds ever wanted out of baseball was to be considered in the conversation for who was the best ever. The guy who acts lik...
